IEA Chief Economist presents highlights of World Energy Outlook 2011 in Singapore

The International Energy Agency (IEA), in its recently-launched 2011 edition of the World Energy Outlook (WEO), indicated that without a bold change in policy direction, the world risks locking itself into an insecure, inefficient and high-carbon energy system. Dr Fatih Birol, Chief Economist of IEA, outlined this and the latest trends and developments in the global energy landscape, at the World Energy Outlook (WEO) 2011 lecture in Singapore. Dr Birol oversees the WEO, IEA's flagship publication.

The Energy Market Authority has appointed a Singapore-based consortium comprising Daily Life Renewable Energy Pte Ltd and OKH Holdings Pte Ltd, to design, build, own and operate a micro-grid test-bed incorporating clean and renewable energy resources at the jetty area on Pulau Ubin.

The Energy Market Authority today released the inaugural Singapore Energy Statistics (SES) report .  The SES is an annual publication which provides an integrated one-stop compilation of Singapore’s key energy statistics (including supply, consumption, and prices) and trends in the electricity and gas sectors.  This is part of EMA’s efforts to support the development of a dynamic energy sector.

Singapore walks away with 8 ASEAN Energy Awards

Launch of Singapore's Electric Vehicle Test-bed

The inter-agency Electric Vehicle (EV) Taskforce, led by the Energy Market Authority (EMA) and the Land Transport Authority (LTA), announced the launch of the electric vehicle test-bed in Singapore today. The objective of the EV test-bed is to test and gauge different EV prototypes and charging technologies given Singapore’s urbanised environment and road conditions, before deciding whether to roll it out for mass adoption.
