My Internship Experience
Tan Teck Hao
During my internship at EMA, I was attached to two different divisions: Energy Planning & Development Division (EPDD) and Regulation Division. This greatly broadened my exposure to EMA’s work.
I was involved in several projects with the EPDD. I worked on the Market Development Fund from its infancy stage to its implementation. The process gave me great insights into drafting proposals to the top management, working out fine details to deliver the project and marketing it. I also had the opportunity to learn about solar photovoltaic (PV) technology and its applications in Singapore as well as the set up of the Energy Information Management Portal for policy and planning purposes.
At the Regulations Division, I learnt about the structure, rules and regulations of Singapore’s electricity and gas markets. With the knowledge acquired, I now know where to focus in my impending course of study in college.
Apart from the technical knowledge I gained, I benefited immensely through my involvement in various events such as division retreats, workshops, forums, gatherings and celebrations. I have also gained valuable interpersonal skills from the close interaction with the people I worked with in the office.
Overall, EMA made me feel welcomed as part of the family. What impressed me the most were the patience and close guidance given by my colleagues and superiors during my stay with EMA!
