The Power System Operation Division (PSOD) of EMA is the Power System Operator who arranges for the secure operation of the power system in Singapore and ensures the security of supply of electricity to consumers. PSOD's Power System Control Centre (PSCC) is the nerve centre of the electricity generation and transmission system. The Division operates mission critical Energy Management Systems, carries out power system studies, and assessment of impact of new generating plants as well as the transmission expansion plans of electricity and gas transmission licensees.

ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS DEPARTMENT

The Energy Management Systems Department is responsible for the operation of the Energy Management System (EMS) that a) monitors and controls the electricity generators and electricity transmission network of the power system, and b) monitors the natural gas transmission network of the natural gas system.

The Department also operates a Sectorial Detection and Early Warning System (SDEWS) at the Power System Control Centre to monitor cyber security threats and manage incidents of the Power Sector Critical Information Infrastructures (CII).


GAS SYSTEM SUPERVISION DEPARTMENT

The Gas System Supervision Department supervises real-time operation of the natural gas transmission system to safeguard reliability and security of the gas system. Operators in the department work round the clock to monitor 24x7 operation of the natural gas system including Piped Natural Gas Onshore Receiving Facilities (ORFs), Transmission pipelines, Off-take stations (OTS), Gencos Receiving Stations (GRS) and Liquefied Natural Gas Terminal (LNGT) in Singapore. They oversee the reliable and secure bulk transfer of natural gas from the ORF/LNGT to the OTS/GRS. Likewise, operators co-ordinate with System Control Department on integrated response to power and gas system emergencies. 

SYSTEM CONTROL DEPARTMENT

The System Control Department monitors and controls the power generation, transmission and dispatch system to maintain power system security. Operators in the department work round the clock to monitor, control and direct the generation and transmission of electricity throughout Singapore. They are responsible for the reliable and secure bulk transfer of electricity from the generating stations to the load centres, and integrated response to power and gas system emergencies.

SYSTEM STABILITY AND PLANNING DEPARTMENT

The System Stability and Planning Department is responsible for the overall assessment of medium to long-term power and natural gas system security, stability and reliability. It carries out power and natural gas system studies, and assess impact of new generating plants on the power and natural gas system as well as the transmission expansion plans of electricity and natural gas transmission licensees.
