Requirements for Installation and Maintenance of EV Charger

To ensure proper installation of the EV chargers, you are required to engage a Licensed Electrical Worker (LEW) to install, test and certify the fitness of the installation.

The LEW shall first ensure that the EV charger is an approved type. Upon EMA's request, LEW or the owner will need to produce a copy of the test reports and certificate of conformity of the installed charger. These should be certified by a local or overseas laboratory accredited by the Singapore Accreditation Council (SAC) or its Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) partners from the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC). The EV charger must also comply with TR25:2016 or the relevant International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards (as well as the essential tests stated in the Technical Compliance Checklist).

The LEW will next be required to certify the fitness of the EV charging installation before handing this back to you.

It is Electrical Installation owner’s duty and responsibility to ensure the periodic inspection and maintenance of the EV charging system certified by LEWs. A record of the inspections must be kept and produced to EMA when required.
