Singapore's Energy Landscape – Statement of Opportunities (SOO)

Released annually by EMA, the SOO provides an overview of Singapore's vibrant energy industry and its opportunities. The 2011 edition highlights key developments in Singapore's gas and electricity sectors, advancements in energy research, innovation and demonstration, and our participation in leadership and international collaborations.

Here are some key highlights:

  • Capacity expansion of the country's first Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Terminal. This is to meet Singapore's growing energy needs and to develop its reputation as a major LNG hub.

  • Additional S$195 million funding for the Energy Innovation Programme Office (EIPO). This was given out in July 2011 to build on Singapore's continuing efforts in energy research, innovation and demonstration.

  • Active promotion of regional business prospects for Singapore's energy companies. This was pursued by participating in regional conferences and organising events such as the Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW).

The Numbers That Matter – Singapore Energy Statistics (SES) Report

As part of EMA's efforts to support Singapore's dynamic energy sector, the inaugural issue of the SES report was published to provide a one-stop update of the industry's key energy statistics and trends.

The report included information on Singapore's energy imports and exports, its gas consumption (final consumption figures by end-user sectors were included for the first time), electricity generation and consumption rates, and energy prices.
