Did you know that about 95 percent of Singapore’s electricity is generated by natural gas? To keep prices competitive and give gas buyers more choice, EMA will be appointing up to two new Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) importers next year.

As of now, four companies have made it to the shortlist. They are BG Singapore Gas Marketing Pte Ltd, Pavilion Gas Pte Ltd, Sembcorp Industries, and Shell Eastern Petroleum (Pte) Ltd.

Their proposals – for Stage Two of the Request-for-Proposal to import the next tranche of LNG – will need to reach EMA by 29 February 2016. EMA will then assess and subsequently decide on the next importer(s) of LNG for Singapore.
