Power System Operation Division

Oversees the secure operation of the power system, with the aim of delivering a reliable supply of electricity to consumers.

Energy Management Systems Department

Mr Lim Wee Seng

Director

  • Oversees the operation of the Energy Management Systems which involves round the clock monitoring and control of the electricity generators as well as the electricity and natural gas transmission networks.

  • Operates a Sectorial Detection and Early Warning System at the Power System Control Centre to monitor cyber security threats and manage Power Sector Critical Information Infrastructure incidents.

System Stability & Planning Department

Mr Lionel Lee

Director

  • Oversees the overall assessment of medium- to long-term electricity and natural gas system security, stability and reliability to meet future demand. 

  • Carries out electricity and natural gas system studies and assesses the impact of new generating plants/imports/consumers’ connections on existing electricity and natural gas systems as well as the electricity and natural gas transmission licensees’ plans to expand the transmission networks.

System Control Department

Mr Lee Kim Hwee

Director

  • Monitors, controls and directs the electricity generation and transmission network of the power systems to ensure the secure supply of electricity to consumers. 

  • Partners with the Gas System Supervision Department to handle electricity and gas system emergencies.

Gas System Supervision Department

Mr Lionel Tan

Director

  • Oversees the real-time operation of the natural gas transmission system to safeguard reliability and security of the gas system. 

  • Monitors the natural gas system round the clock, which includes the gas transmission pipelines as well as gas facilities such as the Onshore Receiving Facility (ORF) and the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Terminal.

  • Collaborates with the System Control Department to implement integrated responses for handling electricity and gas system emergencies.
