SP Services - Electricity Tariff Revision for 4th Quarter 2009

29 Oct 2009
Media Releases 29 Oct 2009

Background Note

  1. The electricity tariff for households for the 4th quarter of 2009 (i.e. October to December 2009) will be increased by 12.50 per cent or 2.41 cents per kWh.
  2. The electricity tariff is influenced by movements in the fuel oil price. This is because the power generation companies import natural gas at a price pegged to the fuel oil price. This is the industry practice in Asia where the price of gas is tied by long-term contracts to the fuel oil price.
