Singapore and IEA Co-host Inaugural Training Programme on Energy Investment and Financing

  1. More than 100 participants from 16 countries worldwide convened in Singapore today for the Singapore-International Energy Agency (IEA) Clean Energy Investment and Financing Training Programme (28 to 30 August 2018).
  2. This programme is designed to help policymakers and professionals from state-owned utilities in Asia build up capabilities in attracting investments and sustainable financing for energy infrastructure. It will feature 18 speakers and experts from the IEA, World Bank, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, and Singapore government agencies who will share their financing expertise in power sector, renewable energy and energy efficiency projects.
  3. Mr Ngiam Shih Chun, Chief Executive of the Energy Market Authority, said: “We need to facilitate the right energy investments and develop energy infrastructure to achieve cleaner and more reliable energy, and power Asia’s economic growth. This training programme will help to increase our knowledge base and skills on energy investments and financing.”
  4. The Singapore-IEA Clean Energy Investment and Financing Training Programme is the second event under the Singapore-IEA Regional Training Hub initiative. This was launched in 2016 when Singapore became an Association Country of the IEA.
  5. Singapore and the IEA will next co-host the 2nd Singapore-IEA Forum on 31 October 2018 at the 11th Singapore International Energy Week. The Forum will focus on the digital transformation of the energy sector.
