The Sembcorp-EMA Energy Technology Partnership (SEETP) aims to encourage the translation and commercialisation of energy research into technologies and solutions to address Singapore’s energy needs.

Under this partnership, participating researchers and companies have the opportunity to develop new technologies that can be test-bedded at Sembcorp's facilities. They can also leverage Sembcorp's strong business networks for commercialisation.

Below are the projects awarded under the SEETP.

Project Title Project Description Project Team
An Online Process Monitoring Scheme to Improve the Accuracy of the Tube Boiler Inspection Process To develop an online condition monitoring system that will allow for automated plant boiler inspections. The system is capable of detecting the onset of boiler defects by employing innovative sensors, data analytics and machine learning technologies. The aim of the system is to reduce inspection time and hence, overall downtime of the boiler. Dr Emily Hao Jianzhong, Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R)
Automated Pipeline Monitoring with Unmanned Aerial Imaging System

To develop an autonomous unmanned GL aerial vehicle (UAV), equipped with video cameras and sensors, capable of performing

automated visual inspection and leak detection for pipelines. The aim is for the system to cover large areas with minimal manpower, thus significantly reducing operational costs.

Dr Zheng Jinghong, (I2R)
Development of Absorption Chiller System with Optimised Heat Exchange Network for High Utilisation of Low-Grade Waste Heat

To develop a novel absorption chiller with seawater cooling and other innovative features. The aim of the system is to enhance overall efficiency of an industrial plant by enabling recovery of low-grade waste heat to produce chilled water.

Prof Yang Chun Charles, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore
Internet of Energy with Advanced Analytics, Modelling, Optimisation and Digitisation for Energy Storage Solutions and Renewable Energy Sources

To develop a Virtual Power Plant that consists of an energy management system which takes into account our local network configurations, advanced weather forecasting, loads and market trading platforms to coordinate distributed energy resources such as solar and energy storage in an economically sensible manner while ensuring a reliable supply of energy to consumers.

Dr Koh Liang Mong, Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N), Nanyang Technological University
