Codes of Practice

Pursuant to the Gas Act, EMA has issued the following codes of practice for the regulation of the activities and conduct of the gas industry in ensuring the reliable and safe conveyance of gas to consumers

Gas Supply Code

This code of practice sets out the standards and procedures which the gas licensees must comply with for the safe operation of the gas supply system. It also describes the rights and obligations of the gas licensees on the conveyance of gas and provision of gas supply.


Gas Safety Code

This code of practice sets out the standards and procedures which a gas licensee is required to comply with to ensure the safe operation of the gas supply system. It also stipulates the technical, safety and procedural requirements to be met by the gas licensees.


Gas Metering Code

This code of practice sets out the obligations of the gas shippers providing meter data to the designated gas transporter under the Gas Network Code, and the gas retailers who sell gas to retail consumers. This code also addresses matters associated with the production, storage, collection, transmission and verification of meter data from all meter installations. It also describes the specifications of meter installations and associated equipment.


Gas Retailer Code of Conduct

This code of practice sets out the minimum standards of performance in which the gas retailer licensees have to adhere to when conducting the gas retail business.


Term Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Import Code

This code of practice sets out the regulatory framework to ensure Singapore will continue to enjoy competitively-priced and reliable supplies of LNG, as well as optimise the storage and regasification capacity of the Singapore LNG Terminal through efficient operations and utilisation thereof, and protect the interests of gas users in Singapore with regard to pricing and other terms of supply of regasified LNG.
