Request for Proposal for Additional Term LNG Importers
EMA has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) to appoint up to two additional term Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) importers for Singapore. This will complement the current four term LNG importers to enhance competition and provide more options for gas buyers.
Natural gas, which is the cleanest-burning fossil fuel, is one of four Switches in Singapore’s transition towards a more reliable, affordable and cleaner energy future. Natural gas is used to produce around 95% of Singapore’s electricity, and will continue to be a dominant fuel for Singapore’s electricity generation, as the other three Switches are being scaled up – solar, regional power grids and low-carbon alternatives.
Potential importers will have to demonstrate their ability to provide reliable, secure and competitive supply of LNG to Singapore.
Interested parties are invited to submit their proposals to EMA by 8 July 2022, 3pm (Singapore time).
Note: EMA has closed the RFP on 30
Nov 2022.
