Frequently Asked Questions

Electrical worker

You can apply for an Electrical Worker Licence by submitting your application online through the e-Licence Information Services (ELISE) portal.

Before applying for the licence, we encourage you to visit the Electrical Worker Licence page for information on the licence and eligibility criteria.

There are 3 classes of Electrical Worker Licences, namely Electrician, Electrical Technician and Electrical Engineer.

The application fee for a worker licence is $50 (non-refundable). Assuming that your application is successful, you will need to pay the corresponding licence fees of:

  • $30 for Electrician Licence
  • $60 for Electrical Technician Licence
  • $80 for Electrical Engineer Licence

Please visit the  e-Licence Information Services (ELISE) portal if you wish to apply for the licence.

To engage or verify a Licensed Electrical Worker, visit the e-Licence Information Services (ELISE) portal. Under "Search for Licensed Workers", click on "Electrical worker who offers services to consumers".

All Licensed Electrical Workers are issued with licence cards.
 

Gas Service Worker

There are two classes of gas service worker licences, namely the Gas Service Worker and Gas Service Worker (Restricted) Licences.

For Gas Service Worker Licence, applicants must:

  • Hold a Builder Certificate in Plumbing and Pipefitting and a Gas Service Workers Course certificate issued by the BCA Academy, and has at least 2 years of practical experience in Singapore relevant to the work to be performed by a gas service worker; or
  • Hold a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and a Certificate in Gas Technology issued by the BCA Academy, and has at least 2 years of practical experience in Singapore relevant to the work to be performed by a gas service worker; or
  • Hold a Gas Service Workers Course certificate or Certificate in Gas Technology issued by the BCA Academy and has at least 10 years of practical experience in Singapore relevant to the work to be performed by a gas service worker.

For Gas Service Worker (Restricted) Licence, applicants must successfully complete a course in gas service work pertaining to installation, maintenance, repair and testing of gas appliances approved by the Authority, and have:

  • At least 2 years of relevant practical experience in Singapore on town gas or natural gas appliances; and
  • The ability to understand appliance manuals in English.

Gas Service Worker Licence

The Gas Service Worker and Certificate in Gas Technology courses are conducted by BCA Academy. Contact BCA Academy via their online form for more information on the courses.

Gas Service Worker Licence (Restricted)

The Gas Service Worker (Restricted) Course is conducted by City Energy Pte Ltd (as Trustee).

Cable Detection Worker

Applicants applying for a Cable Detection Worker Licence are required to meet the following requirements:

  • Possess a diploma majoring in engineering, architecture, building, land surveying or any other discipline relevant to the construction of structures, or such other qualification as may be acceptable to EMA; and has not less than 2 years relevant experience; and has successfully completed a course of instruction specified on the approved courses webpage that is relevant to cable detection work; or
  • Possess a National Institute of Technical Education Certificate majoring in engineering, architecture, building, land surveying or any other discipline relevant to the construction of structures, or such other qualification as may be acceptable to EMA; and has not less than 5 years relevant experience; and has successfully completed a course of instruction specified on the approved courses webpage that is relevant to cable detection work; or
  • Possess a Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (Level 5) Certificate under the Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications framework, or such other qualification as may be acceptable to the Authority; and has not less than 10 years relevant experience; and has successfully completed a course of instruction specified on the approved courses webpage that is relevant to cable detection work and has successfully completed a course in cable detection work approved by EMA.

Licence Card and Particulars

Replace Licence Card

You may request to replace your licence card by logging into the e-Licensing Information Services (ELISE) portal with your SingPass. There is a $21.40 replacement fee (including GST).

If you have lost your licence card, do make a police report and submit a copy of the report together with your request.

Update Particulars

You can update your particulars through the e-Licensing Information Services (ELISE) portal. After you have logged into ELISE, click on My Profile > Update Particulars/Replacement of Worker's Licence > Submit

Cancel Licence Card

Write to us via our feedback form with your licence number to cancel your worker licence. Our licensing officer will contact you within 3 business days. You will be required to return your licence.

Find Licensed Workers

To find and verify licensed workers who can carry out electrical, gas service, and cable detection works, use our online Licensed Workers directory.

You are recommended to contact a few workers to compare their fees before engaging one.
