Experimental Urban Micro-grid @ Singapore Institute of Technology
Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), in
collaboration with SP Group, is developing Singapore’s First Experimental Urban
Micro-grid. To be housed in SIT’s future
campus at Punggol Digital District when completed. The micro-grid will cover
nine buildings, be largely energy self-sufficient and can connect and
disconnect from the grid as required.
As a national
infrastructure, the micro-grid will enable local research community and
businesses to test-bed new technologies and solutions in a controlled
environment, while providing students the opportunity to work with industry
partners and energy start-ups.
On 23 October 2017, SP Group (SP) and SIT inked
a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on the development of the
micro-grid. More information is available
here.
