Following the success of the inaugural International Energy Week (IEW), Singapore will host the launch of the World Energy Outlook 2008 (WEO 2008) in Southeast Asia. Jointly organised by the Energy Market Authority (EMA), Energy Studies Institute and Institute of Southeast Asian Studies, the launch will be held on 26 November 2008 at 10.00 am.
Mr Nobuo Tanaka, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency will share his views on the trends in the global energy landscape, and discuss issues like the potential threats to global oil and gas supplies, and the possible impact of a post-2012 framework to stabilise greenhouse gas emissions on global energy markets. This will be followed by a dialogue session where Mr Tanaka will take questions and offer further insights on energy-related issues with members of the audience.
EMA is honoured to host the International Energy Agency and Mr Tanaka for this WEO 2008 event. It provides a good overview of global energy trends and a useful roadmap for developing cities to achieve sustainable energy options for the future. This platform ties in well with Singapore’s goal of becoming a centre for innovative energy solutions and sustainable development.
