Establishment of Singapore GasCo

07 May 2025
Media Releases 07 May 2025
  1. A new entity, Singapore GasCo Pte Ltd (Singapore GasCo), has been established to centralise the procurement and supply of natural gas to the power sector in Singapore.
  2. Natural gas today accounts for around 95% of Singapore’s electricity generation. As we push ahead with Singapore’s energy transition towards net-zero by 2050, natural gas will continue to play a crucial role in safeguarding our energy security and supporting an orderly transition. Singapore GasCo, a fully Government-owned entity, is set up to centralise the procurement and supply of gas to power generation companies to reap economies of scale and negotiate for more favourable gas contracting terms, procure natural gas from diverse sources as well as enter into longer term gas contracts to provide more stable supply and prices.
  3. Mr Alan Heng has been appointed as Singapore GasCo’s Chief Executive Officer. Mr Heng has over 37 years of industry experience in the energy sector, including in the natural gas sector as Group Chief Executive Officer of Pavilion Energy until March 2025. Prior to this, Mr Heng held various senior management positions in planning, operations and marketing for 23 years at ExxonMobil.
  4. The establishment of Singapore GasCo is a major milestone in Singapore’s energy transition journey. Singapore GasCo will play a key role to support a secure, resilient and cost-competitive power system as we navigate the energy transition towards a more sustainable future.
