Chapter 03

Electricity Consumption

Singapore’s total electricity consumption rose by 2.5% from 50.4 TWh in 2018 to 51.7 TWh in 2019.

The Industrial-related sector consumed the most energy (41.5% or 21.4 TWh), followed by consumers in the Commerce & Services-related (37.3% or 19.3 TWh) and Household (14.9% or 7.7 TWh) sectors.

The overall increase in electricity consumption for Commerce & Services-related sectors was attributed from the strong growths in the Information & Communications (by 11.7%) and Professional & Scientific sectors (by 12.2%) in 2019. Conversely, the Wholesale & Retail Trade sector saw slight decline in electricity consumption of 1.2%.
