Electricity Consumption
Singapore’s total electricity consumption rose by 2.5% from 50.4 TWh in 2018 to 51.7 TWh in 2019.
The Industrial-related sector consumed the most energy (41.5% or 21.4 TWh), followed by consumers in the Commerce & Services-related (37.3% or 19.3 TWh) and Household (14.9% or 7.7 TWh) sectors.
The overall increase in electricity consumption for Commerce & Services-related sectors was attributed from the strong growths in the Information & Communications (by 11.7%) and Professional & Scientific sectors (by 12.2%) in 2019. Conversely, the Wholesale & Retail Trade sector saw slight decline in electricity consumption of 1.2%.

Natural Gas Consumption
Final end-use consumption of Natural Gas, excluding those used in power generation (as MPPs or Autoproducers*) and oil refining, increased marginally by 0.4% from 59,773.8 TJ in 2018 to 60,027.9 TJ in 2019. The bulk of Natural Gas consumption was attributed to the Industrial-related (89.2% or 53,523.6 TJ) and Commerce & Services-related (6.0% or 3,591.5 TJ) sectors. Households, which use Natural Gas in the form of Town Gas, accounted for 4.4% (or 2,649.3 TJ) of Natural Gas consumption.
